The One Caribbean Music Festival is under investigation regarding the source and legality of the US$950,000 paid to Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel, who was scheduled to headline the event but did not appear. The Acting Police Commissioner, Junior Benjamin, confirmed that the Financial Investigation Branch is reviewing whether the transaction followed proper legal and financial procedures, including foreign exchange and transparency regulations.
Vybz Kartel was reportedly promised US$1.35 million but declined to perform after being offered only US$950,000. Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo expressed interest in the large payment figure. The investigation may take up to 30 days.
Despite the absence of Kartel and two other headliners, the event featured international and local acts. Organizers have announced automatic refunds within 5–7 business days for all online ticket purchases.
