UWP expresses concern over partial travel ban imposed by the United States

The United Workers Party – Team Dominica has voiced strong concern over a partial travel ban imposed by the United States Government on citizens of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The opposition party says the restriction, which affects both immigrant and non-immigrant travel, will have serious consequences for Dominicans seeking to travel to the U.S. for education, business, medical care, and family reunification. It warns that the move threatens long-standing people-to-people ties between the two countries. While recognizing the U.S. right to enforce its immigration policies, the party is calling on the Government of Dominica to explain how the country came to face the ban, and to engage urgently with U.S. officials to resolve the matter. It also wants corrective action taken to restore confidence in the Citizenship by Investment Program. The United Workers Party says ordinary Dominicans should not suffer because of governance failures, and has pledged to support all efforts to have the restriction reviewed and lifted.
