A UPS cargo plane crashed and exploded in a massive fireball Tuesday evening while taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, killing at least seven people and injuring 11 others. The aircraft, bound for Honolulu, went down around 5:15 p.m. after flames were seen on its left wing. Video footage showed the plane briefly lifting off before crashing and igniting near the end of the runway, damaging part of a nearby building. Four of the fatalities were people on the ground. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said some of the injured sustained “very significant” injuries. UPS temporarily halted operations at its Louisville Worldport hub—the company’s largest package handling facility, which employs thousands and processes over 400,000 packages per hour.
