The Office of Disaster Management is urging Dominicans to remain calm but alert as Tropical Storm Jerry moves north of the island. During a joint broadcast with the Meteorological Service, Senior Met Officer Marshall Alexander confirmed that Jerry is expected to pass about 180 miles north of Dominica, bringing indirect impacts such as rainfall, gusty winds, and rough seas. Disaster Preparedness Coordinator Fitzroy Pascal said while the island is not under any storm watch or warning, residents should continue to monitor updates and exercise caution, especially in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and falling rocks. Minister for National Security Rayburn Blackmoore also joined the discussion, commending the unified media effort and emphasizing that preparedness should begin at home. He reminded citizens to secure their properties, clean drains, and pay attention only to official information. The Met Office projects two to four inches of rainfall as the system passes north, with seas up to twelve feet possible. Fisherfolk and small craft operators are advised to secure their vessels.
