Local Pharmacist Urges Gov’t to Tackle Pharmacist Shortage

A Dominican pharmacist has called for urgent action to address the shortage of trained professionals. Speaking on the occasion of World Pharmacists Day 2025 on September 25th, lead pharmacist at Fresh Market and Best Price Pharmacy, Israel Fontaine, urged government, pharmacy owners, and policymakers to prioritize training opportunities to meet the island’s growing healthcare needs. Fontaine also encouraged secondary school students to consider careers in pharmacy, noting that investing in professional training is key to ensuring safe and effective healthcare delivery.
