Magistrate Gloria Augustus is calling for greater support services for victims of domestic and gender-based violence, including the establishment of a much-needed shelter. Speaking at Lifeline Ministries’ graduation ceremony for survivor supporters and ‘Peaced Together’ graduates last week, Magistrate Augustus noted that too often survivors are left without safe housing or stability after leaving abusive relationships. She stressed that while government services remain limited, non-governmental organizations like Lifeline are filling the gap — but more resources are urgently needed. Augustus urged continued advocacy for what she described as a “full-service system” that would include shelter and other support programs to help survivors recover and rebuild.
