European Union renews support for World Health Organization’s Universal Health Coverage Partnership

The World Health Organization and the European Union have renewed their partnership to strengthen health systems worldwide. Phase five of the Universal Health Coverage Partnership, running from 2025 to 2028, will focus on building resilient, equitable, and people-centred health systems. The EU is providing 40 million euros in support, with additional funding expected in 2027. Since 2011, the partnership has helped over 115 countries, reaching more than three billion people. Key priorities include improving health services, tackling noncommunicable diseases, and promoting equity and climate resilience. WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros says this collaboration ensures quality health care for all, leaving no one behind.
