Chairman of the Education Trust Fund, Willie Fevrier, is appealing to former beneficiaries to give back to the programme that once supported them. Fevrier says many Dominicans now in strong professional positions were assisted by the Fund, and he is urging them to make even small, regular contributions to help today’s students stay in school. Fevrier says this generosity is vital as the Fund continues to meet growing demand. This year alone, the Education Trust Fund assisted 400 students, including 140 with school fees, 300 with CXC examination fees, and about 30 with transportation needs where government transport is unavailable. The Fund also manages payments to bus drivers and administers the government’s school transfer grant.
