Dominica’s President, Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, has renewed calls for international solidarity with nations facing crisis, as she addressed the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. She expressed strong support for a Haitian-led solution to the ongoing crisis in Haiti, insisting that the sovereignty and rights of the Haitian people must be respected. On Cuba, President Burton once again called for the immediate lifting of the long-standing economic embargo, describing it as unjustified and harmful to the Cuban people. She also defended Venezuela’s sovereignty, condemning international sanctions and warning against the presence of military assets in the Caribbean.
