Dominica’s Cozier Frederick Appointed to UN Climate Working Group

Dominica’s Environment Minister, Hon. Cozier Frederick, has been officially appointed to the UNFCCC Facilitative Working Group (FWG) of the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform (LCIPP), representing Small Island Developing States (SIDS) on the global stage.
The announcement came during the group’s 13th meeting in Bonn, Germany, which concluded on Friday, June 13. Frederick joins the 14-member body for a two-year term, tasked with ensuring SIDS perspectives shape international climate action, particularly in areas such as traditional knowledge, community-led solutions, finance, and technology.
The meeting also finalized an ambitious 2025–2027 work plan aimed at deepening the role of local knowledge in climate solutions. Dominica’s delegation welcomed the outcomes as a strong boost to the country’s Climate Resilience and Recovery Plan and a milestone in advancing SIDS solidarity ahead of COP 30.
