Dominica State Prison Launches Major Inmate Rehabilitation Program

A major inmate rehabilitation initiative is now underway at the Dominica State Prison, aimed at equipping inmates with skills and education to support their reintegration into society.
Acting Superintendent of Prisons, Jeffrey Edmund, says the new initiative focuses on helping inmates develop skills and build confidence as they prepare to re-enter society.
Speaking during a recent site visit by National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore, Edmund highlighted several key programs already in place — including candle and soap making workshops, English and social studies classes, and ongoing literacy and drug prevention sessions.
He says these efforts are about more than just education — they’re about changing lives.
