The Government of Dominica received new equipment this week under the Caribbean and European Union Partnership on Justice, also known as PACE Justice. The handover, facilitated by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, aims to modernize and digitalize the justice system, making it more efficient and people-centered. UNDP Resident Representative Lim-ya El-ta-yeb highlighted that the equipment will support faster case management from the police to the courts and other judicial entities, helping to reduce the backlog of cases in the country. European Union Ambassador Fiona Ramsey praised the project for strengthening the rule of law and improving access to justice, noting its importance for victims, defendants, and the broader public. Attorney General Levi Peter welcomed the support, saying the equipment is already making a positive impact in the police, courts, and prison system, and expressed confidence that continued collaboration will significantly reduce delays in Dominica’s justice system.
