The Dominica Police Force has taken a major step towards modernizing its operations with the handover of new equipment for a pilotPolice Records Management Information System today. The system, an open-source platform already in use in six Caribbean countries, will allow police officers to capture, store, and manage case reports and operational information more efficiently. The symbolic handover was made possible through funding from the UNDP’s Digital Public Goods for Development project, with additional support from the Government of Norway. UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, Stephanie Ziebell, described the handover as a demonstration of partnership and long-term support for Dominica’s national police.Minister for National Security, Rayburn Blackmoore, emphasized that the project will improve productivity, decision-making, and crime management, while urging police leadership to take ownership and properly maintain the new equipment. The pilot project marks a significant move toward digitalization and modernization of policing in Dominica, reinforcing the country’s commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient law enforcement system.
