The Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) is introducing a practical waste-sorting and recycling initiative during the Ti Vilaj Creole. The program aims to educate the public on sorting waste at the source and demonstrate effective waste management in action. Acting Landfill Manager Karah Wilson said festival-goers will witness the full process—from disposal to collection—highlighting how simple steps can make a big impact. Recycling stations for plastics, glass, tins, and more will be available, alongside educational displays focused on reducing landfill strain, especially after the June sanitary landfill fire. Meantime, Recycle Waste Officer Shamara Daisy emphasized turning plastics into local commodities to extend landfill life and keep Dominica cleaner.
