Dominica Kicks off Early Childhood Development Month

Education Minister Octavia Alfred has officially declared open Early Childhood Development Month for November 2025, under the theme “Celebrating Early Childhood Development for Progress and with Purpose.” Minister Alfred said the month-long observance highlights the importance of the early years in shaping children’s hearts, minds, and love for learning. She noted that 32 of the island’s 45 government primary schools now have pre-kindergarten programs, providing both early education and custodial care. Activities for the month include the Early Childhood Development Blessing Weekend on November 8th and 9th, and Pigeon Peas Day on November 17th, linking agriculture to children’s nutrition and health.
