The Caribbean Democrat Union is celebrating a major milestone this week, as Saint Lucia’s Opposition Leader, Hon. Allen Chastanet, has been appointed to the Board of the International Democracy Union.
Chastanet, who also leads the United Workers Party, becomes one of the few Caribbean leaders to serve at the highest level of the global alliance of centre-right political parties.
The CDU calls the appointment a proud and historic moment, praising Chastanet’s long-standing commitment to democratic values, good governance, and people-centered development.
Over the years, Chastanet has championed regional interests on global platforms, especially in areas like climate change, trade, tourism, and sustainable growth.
