Bostic Elected as Barbados’ Next President

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Davidson Bostic has been officially elected as the next President of Barbados. The announcement came this morning during a joint sitting of Parliament, where Speaker Arthur Holder confirmed that Bostic’s unopposed nomination stood approved, following joint endorsement by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne. In brief remarks, both leaders expressed confidence in Bostic’s appointment. Opposition Leader Thorne described him as a steady and respected Barbadian, while Prime Minister Mottley said he is the right person for this time—embodying the qualities and integrity needed for the nation’s highest office. Jeffrey Bostic now succeeds President Dame Sandra Mason as Barbados’ new Head of State.
