Dominica’s Alick Athanaze Named in West Indies Test Squad for India Tour

In sports, Dominican batsman Alick Athanaze has earned a place in the West Indies Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against India from October 2nd to 14th. The tour, which will be the West Indies’ first Test series in India since 2018 and part of the ICC World Test Championship, sees Athanaze named among three changes from the side that faced Australia. He joins opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul and debutant spinner Khary Pierre in the 15-man squad. Head Coach Daren Sammy highlighted Athanaze’s inclusion as a strategic move to strengthen the batting against spin, noting his qualities in subcontinental conditions. The squad, captained by Roston Chase, departs the Caribbean on September 22 and will play Tests in Ahmedabad and Delhi.
