Dominica has officially joined 32 other nations as a founding member of the newly launched International Organization for Mediation.
The signing ceremony took place in Hong Kong on May 30th, where Dominica was represented by Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Vince Henderson.
The organization aims to provide a formal platform for the peaceful resolution of international disputes — a major development in strengthening global governance and the international rule of law.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who addressed the gathering, emphasized the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation in resolving global challenges.
Hong Kong will serve as the organization’s headquarters, given its strong legal system and unique position bridging both common and civil law traditions.
Dominica’s participation highlights its commitment to international cooperation and the peaceful settlement of disputes in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
