Government Announces New Minimum Wage Effective December 1

The Government of Dominica has confirmed a new national minimum wage structure, set to take effect today December 1, 2025. The announcement follows months of review by the Minimum Wage Advisory Board, which examined local labour conditions and wage trends across the OECS. The updated rates—approved by Cabinet under the Labour Standards Order of 2025—introduce significant increases ranging from 20 to 30 percent across major categories of workers. Agricultural labourers will now receive $9.75 an hour, while factory, tourism and manufacturing workers move to $9.00 an hour. Cashiers, sales clerks, and several hospitality roles will also see notable adjustments. Home assistants are also included, with weekly wages rising by 20 percent whether meals are provided or not. Security guards will now earn $9.60 an hour. Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour, Daren Pinard, has welcomed the approval of Dominica’s revised national minimum wage, calling it a major milestone in efforts to create a fairer and more people-centred labour market.
