Energy Minister, Dr. Vince Henderson, says Dominica is on track to make a major leap in renewable energy as the geothermal project continues on the island. Speaking during this morning’s parliamentary session, Dr. Henderson announced that by the first quarter of 2026, Dominica is expected to generate 80 percent of its electricity from renewable sources, largely powered by a new 10-megawatt geothermal plant. He went on to highlight plans to run a dedicated transmission line from Sugarloaf to the international airport, which will support a mini-grid in the northeast capable of operating independently during natural disasters.
