The government of Dominica is moving to modernize its justice system with plans to introduce electronic recording in the Magistrates Court by 2025. Minister for National Security and Legal Affairs, Rayburn Blackmoore, made the announcement during a handover ceremony of the PACE Justice Project on Friday. He said a formal request will be sent to the United Nations Development Programme for advanced note-taking technology to support the initiative. Blackmoore highlighted challenges in the Night Court, where manual writing slows proceedings, and stressed that technology is essential to improving efficiency and reducing case backlogs. The project forms part of Dominica’s broader effort under the EU-funded PACE initiative to strengthen and digitize judicial systems across the Caribbean.
