A cluster of five earthquakes struck the Atlantic near Dominica, Guadeloupe, and Antigua and Barbuda early this morning, sending tremors across the region. According to the UWI Seismic Research Centre, the quakes occurred within an hour, with magnitudes ranging from 4.2 to as high as 6.7. The strongest, a magnitude 6.7 quake, struck at 8:38 a.m. local time, about 250 kilometers northeast of Dominica. While no damage or injuries have been reported so far, residents across Dominica and nearby islands said they felt the shaking, particularly along coastal areas. Authorities have not issued a tsunami warning, but several Caribbean nations remain on alert and are monitoring sea conditions closely. Emergency officials are urging residents to stay calm, remain vigilant, and be prepared to move to higher ground if necessary. They’re also reminding the public of the importance of earthquake preparedness, given the region’s high seismic activity.
