E.O. LeBlanc Memorial Lecture to Highlight Traditional Livelihoods

Community livelihoods and cultural heritage in Dominica will take the spotlight this week at the Twelfth Annual E.O. LeBlanc Memorial Lecture, hosted by the UWI Global Campus Dominica and the Division of Culture. This year’s lecture will feature a panel discussion exploring how traditional practices and modern innovations help build resilient Dominican communities. Panellists include Miranda Stephenson, Derrick Theophille and Gweneth Frederick. Moderator for the evening will be Micah Walter of the Ministry of Labour and Small Business Development. According to Head of UWI Global Campus Dominica, Dr. Kimone Joseph, the discussion reflects this year’s History Week theme, which focuses on cultural heritage and environmental stewardship. The event takes place on Thursday, October 9th at 7 p.m. at the Alwin Bully Auditorium at UWI.The annual lecture series forms part of Dominica’s Independence celebrations, honoring Edward Oliver LeBlanc, the island’s first Premier and a lifelong champion of Dominican culture.
