32 candidates set for St. Vincent and the Grenadines general elections

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines general elections will be held on November 27, with 32 candidates contesting, including one independent. The main contest is between the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP), led by Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, seeking a sixth consecutive term, and the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP), led by Dr. Godwin Friday. The independent candidate, Kenna Questelles, aims to establish a digital youth service agency and increase youth employment in tech, bringing the total number of female candidates to nine. The ULP has challenged the eligibility of two NDP candidates over their Canadian citizenship, promising legal action despite their nominations being approved. Smaller parties, like the National Liberation Movement (NLM), will also participate. The outcome of the election will determine whether the ULP continues its long tenure or if the NDP returns to power.
